Discovered in 2012, Purple Earth Tiger(Cyriopagopus sp. Hati Hati) is a type of large tarantula with a strong impression. Like the other earth tiger tarantula, as its name suggests, it has an abdominal tiger streak and has a dual propensity of arboreal and burrow. It's often black to purple, or dark blue or navy, which may look different depending on the light or angle. In the case of juvenile, they have an overall dark monochromatic color, but blue light appears stronger as they approach a completely adult. Female adults are blue all over, with golden bands on their legs, and the carapace and its surrounding hairs are also golden. Also, the carapace size is relatively huge. Like other earth tiger tarantulas, sexual dysplasia is strong, so males are not blue at all and appear beige or brown all over. In addition to their overall size, males have very small carapace sizes.
When this tarantula is a juvenile, it tends to use webs to tunnel, and as it becomes an adult, it spends more and more time on trees. Therefore, it is better to put more soil in the juvenile container and enough wood structure in the adult container.
Although the growth rate is fast and the breeding difficulty is low because it shows a strong feeding response in all kinds of food, the difficulty of breeding Purple earth tiger is never low due to their unique strong aggression and fierce nature.
The word "Hati hati" means to be careful in Indonesian. The keeper has to worry a lot about this tarantula getting this name. Purple Earth tiger is highly aggressive and can be attacked several times in a row with fangs, so if you are not careful, the breeder will have a painful experience. Their venom is not fatal to humans, but it can cause enough hurt and pain over a considerable period of time, so be sure to be careful.
In the case of attempting to mate, females often eat males after mating, so breeders can protect males. If Maiting is successful, you can expect about 100 to 150 baby spiders.
