Fringed ornamental(Poecilotheria ornata) is a large arboreal tarantula native to Sri Lanka. It is the second largest tarantula in the genus Poecilotheria, and can easily grow up to 20 cm, and sometimes find individuals up to 25 cm.
The carapace of Fringed ornamental is yellow and purple, so it is easy to distinguish it from other tarantulas. There are complex fractal patterns on the abdomen. Females are characterized by a light purple color throughout their bodies, while their fur is pink. Purple is often strongly represented by light and angles, but in general it's more brown and yellow. Less mature juveniles can often be observed to have a pattern similar to that of adults, and their hair is yellow. Because some sexual dysplasia is observed, it is common for males to be darker. Male Poecilotheria ornata are mostly khaki or brown throughout their bodies.
Fringed ornamental is known to have a fairly strong venom. Their venom is not too threatening to humans, but this tarantula bite can cause muscle spasms with strong pain. Therefore, avoid handling this tarantula as much as possible.
Poecilotheria ornata is recommended for experienced breeders as it can move quickly and quickly using its long legs. Their containers must meet at least four times the size of a tarantula and must have cork bark, wood driftwood or decoration. Also, they will need a bowl that can store water because they need clean and fresh water.
