Palmopoeus Victori, known as 'Mexican half & half', is a species of tarantula native to rainforests in the Veracruz region of Mexico. This species is Mexico's first native tree tarantula and is a very popular New World species. The name originated from the Mexican herpetologist Victor H. who discovered and collected the first specimen. It is derived from Victor H. Jiménez Arcos.
The biggest feature of Mexican half & half is that it has a two-tone color based on half the body, and in adults, the four front legs and back legs are black (or dark green) and the four abdomen and hind legs are dark red. These facial features are mainly found in females, with strong sexual dysplasia, so males have relatively thin bodies and a little olive color added overall.
In the case of juvenile, they have a completely different color than adults, but the body is generally dark and the legs are stained.
It used to be known to grow to around 4-5 inches, but in recent years, 6-7 inches of individuals can be easily identified.
It's not easy to observe and is suitable for medium or higher breeders with some experience due to their fast speed and extremely defensive temperament, as they are extremely fond of hiding and enjoy their activities in light-free darkness.
